Is your old iPhone slowing down? This weird trick likely makes it faster

According to a new study from GizChina, changing the region of your iPhone to France can make an ancient iPhone run quicker than ever. Apple’s decision to throttle and slow aging iPhones due to battery wear and tear has sparked various disputes over the previous few years.

In reality, Apple has been penalized for slowing down aging iPhones by France’s competition authorities as well as many states in the United States. A $113 million settlement was reached in this contentious case.

According to the latest claim, changing the iPhone region to France makes an ancient iPhone run significantly faster than previously. Because of the probe and penalties by France’s antitrust commission, Apple does not throttle iPhones in the country.

The Cupertino-based tech company previously stated that it slows down older iPhones to conserve battery life, resulting in performance degradation. The goal of throttling older iPhones is to force customers to upgrade to a newer model, which will provide far better performance and access to sophisticated features.
